Getting to Armidale

Armidale is roughly halfway between Brisbane and Sydney, only a couple of hours drive from the NSW North Coast.

If driving, Armidale is on the New England Highway, a major road that joins Sydney and Brisbane. Driving time from both major cities in around 6 hours. If you're driving from the coast, you'll drive along the scenic Waterfall Way.

If flying, Armidale has a major regional airport. QANTAS flies into Armidale several times each day, and Regional Express is also a frequent, less expensive option for flying into Armidale. There are no flights between Armidale and Brisbane at this time.

If travelling via Train, CountryLink offers rail travel into Armidale.

If travelling via Bus, Greyhound Pioneer, and New England Coaches both offer travel to major cities.

  If you are travelling the New England Highway from Brisbane:

  1. At the round-about on the New England Highway, turn left.
  2. Follow the main road, turning right at the traffic lights onto Marsh St. 
  3. Follow Marsh St, past McDonalds (on the left), turn right at the traffic lights into Barney Street.
  4. Turn left into Dangar St at the round-about, past Armidale City Public School on your left, then immediately turn right into Mann Street. Take the first left into Jessie Street, and the first right into Belle Avenue.
  5. "The Elms" is on the right at the end of the street. The red remote control-a-door is for your car parking.

  If you are travelling the Waterfall Way from the Coast:

  1. Follow the main road, past The Armidale School, and on through the traffic lights.
  2. Turn left into Dangar St at the round-about, past Armidale City Public School on your left, then immediately turn right into Mann Street. Take the first left into Jessie Street, and the first right into Belle Avenue.
  3. "The Elms" is on the right at the end of the street. The red remote control-a-door is for your car parking.

  If you are travelling the New England Highway from Sydney:

  1. Turn right at the round-about just after the airport.
  2. Travel past the New England Girls School and Armidale High School. Turn left at the round-about over the yellow railway bridge, travel down Dangar Street past Railway Parade, and Mossman Street, then turn left into Mann Street. Take the first left into Jessie Street, and the first right into Belle Avenue.
  3. "The Elms" is on the right at the end of the street. The red remote control-a-door is for your car parking.
